I wanted to share with you a website I find useful when trying to find a new song to learn.
It is called Dr. Uke - www.doctoruke.com - and you can find songs, chord progressions to practice, and how to get started as a beginner. Click on the link above and click on "SONGS" tab. Go through the list to find a song you've always wanted to learn to play or search for "Octopus's Garden" if you've learned how to play it in music class this week. If you haven't, we will work on it next time!

4th and 5th graders who have turned in their contracts are working really hard on the ukuleles.
I thought I'd share the name of a touring artist who covers popular songs, as well as writes his own music. Jake Shimabukuro composes and arranges in various styles. You can look him up on YouTube and find a plethora of music and resources. His videos on basic strumming and chords are easy to understand and helpful. Here is a video of Jake Shimabukuro playing Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Plkp8ufcTeE&disable_polymer=true |
