My name is Ms. Joo Sin and I am so excited to start off another year.
This year, we will continue to sing, dance, and play to get our creative juices flowing. Nevada Department of Education is planning on adopting a new set of standards for music, modeled after the national standards. The four main strands are create, perform, respond, and connect. I sure hope students are ready to do all of the above. There are five rules in music class: Make good choices Use kind words Show respect Involve yourself Care for our room and instruments To help students remind themselves and to reward them, I will be using red cards and green cards this year. The green cards are reserved for exceptional students to celebrate their successes. These cards will be used to pick an activity, an instrument, or a any other tools we may use in music. The red cards are used as reminders or warnings. After one verbal warning, if students continue to exhibit behaviors that are against the MUSIC rules, they will receive a red card. If they receive another red card at any point they come to music, they will receive another red card and a citation. If you have any questions about the rules or the use of Red/Green cards and citations, please feel free to ask me. Hope to see you at the Open House on Thursday, August 16th!
